reusing existing cast for parallel product line
The form was initially used as the inner layer for planters and dustbins already manufactured by the company. As an additional product collection we explored ways to reuse the cast and create a dynamic set of products one of which was ‘tilt’.
How might we create a garden that talks?
Creating a self-watering, self-indicating planter catering to people who enjoy plants but have a busy lifestyle.

Design constraints
The bell shaped outer shell was the predefined cast which needed to be used. With the constraint of the given form, a lot of iterations were tried in order to make the planter balance.
Explorations
Exploring ways to make it a self watering planter, understanding the physics of movement of the outer shell and how that would affect the water to flow inside the shell.
Illustrations and sketches denoting how weight was the centre-point for the balancing act.
Different types of indicators that can be introduced into the planter in order to help the user see how much water to pour on the inside so as to not let it topple down.
